A computer to fix, a website to rebuild, a video to shoot: many businesses and families end up with three providers who don’t talk to each other. Before handing over a project, these eight questions help you avoid bad surprises, whether you choose BRAVUM or another partner.
1. Who will be my contact?
Knowing who answers the phone, who follows the project and who does the work avoids back-and-forth. Ask for a name, not just a generic address.
2. Is the price confirmed before the work?
A clear quote says what is included, what is not and what would change the price. Beware of vague estimates and hours that pile up without warning.
3. Who will own the website, domain name and accounts?
Your domain name, hosting, Google profile, ad accounts and social media should be in your name, with administrator access for you. Otherwise, changing providers can become very complicated.
4. What are the steps and timelines?
A good partner breaks the project into steps, with a date for each and what they need from you (texts, photos, access). Delays often come from missing content: better to know from the start.
5. What happens after delivery?
A website needs updates, backups and monitoring; computers need maintenance. Ask who handles it, how often and how you are told when something goes wrong.
6. Do you work in my language?
In Montréal, many projects are done in French and English. Check that the team can explain things in your language and, for a website, deliver both versions.
7. How do you protect my data and my customers’ data?
In Québec, Law 25 governs personal information: privacy policy, consent for tracking cookies, a designated person in charge. Your partner should know how to configure your website accordingly and protect the access you give them.
8. Can you show real work?
Concrete examples, clients you can name and verifiable reviews are worth more than nice promises.
One partner for all three
That is why BRAVUM exists: BRAVUM Tech for IT, BRAVUM Digital for web, search and software, BRAVUM Media for photo and video, with one person coordinating. The video shot by Media ends up on the website built by Digital, and the computer used to manage it is maintained by Tech.
Frequently asked questions
Why keep ownership of your domain name?
Because your web address and your email depend on it. If it’s in the provider’s name, you could lose them when changing partners.
What does Law 25 change for my website?
Among other things, it requires a privacy policy, consent before tracking cookies (such as analytics tools) and a person in charge of personal information.
Is one provider for everything a good idea?
Mostly, it’s simpler: fewer middlemen, one person to call and projects that work together. Still check that each area of expertise is truly mastered.
Does BRAVUM work with individuals?
Yes. BRAVUM Tech helps families and seniors at home; BRAVUM Digital and BRAVUM Media mainly work for businesses.
